October Toys Presents the Super Awesome Gwin Artist of the Month
Penguins are the new monkeys.
October Toys is pleased to present their Super Awesome Gwin Artist of the month project (SAGA for short). Each month during 2006, October Toys is featuring a different artist on GwinArmy.com and offering four custom Gwins by that artist. Two of the customs will be for sale on the website and the other two customs will be auctioned on eBay. The proceeds from the auctions will be donated to a charity of the artists’ choice.
January kicked off with Super Awesome Gwin Artist Christie, followed in February by Fiend, Okkle in March, Anna of AngelDevil in April, Blinky in May, Jim Koch in June, Queenie in July, and Jared Osborn in August. Donations from auctioned Gwins have been made to several charities so far including Red Cross, Cancer Research UK, WildAid, Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds, Stand Up for Kids, and Feed the Children.
"We are super excited about this project because it enables us to work with even more great artists and extend the possibilities of what can be done with Gwins," explained owner Ayleen Gaspar.
Gwins are a line of artist designed, vinyl penguins based on the Linux mascot, Tux, created by Larry Ewing and The GIMP. They sit approximately 2.5" high and artists of all skill levels are encouraged to try their hand at customizing them. Series 1 and 2 are available for purchase and feature designs by artists such as El Maz, Alex Pardee, Voltaire, Kruse, Charlotte Link, C. Spliedt, Christie, Doktor A, Mimic, Eric Treadaway, Nixon Scratches, idlechimp, and SpookyAMD. For more information on Gwins, please visit http://www.gwinarmy.com
